To perform the test you will need: ### Equipment Requirements Net485 Device Power adapter (included on every purchase) [ATC820 serial to USB adapter](https://www.gridconnect.com/products/atc-820-usb-to-rs485-converter) Ethernet cable. ![NET485.png](https://support.gridconnect.com/hubfs/kb-migration/gridconnect/8946340080147_NET485.png) ### System Requirements Windows OS CPR manager Device Installer Tera Term or any other terminal emulation software --- Start by installing the proper software such as DeviceInstaller, and Tera Term. ### **Downloads** --- Open up CPR MANAGER to create a virtual COM Port, by clicking on Add/Remove ![1.PNG](https://support.gridconnect.com/hubfs/kb-migration/gridconnect/8947000906131_1.png) A new screen with available COM Ports will appear, select one to create a new COM PORT. For this example, we will go with COM1 and then click Ok. ![2.PNG](https://support.gridconnect.com/hubfs/kb-migration/gridconnect/8947180575891_2.png) On this next screen we will do the following: 1. Click on search devices 2. Select the COM Port created (Com 1) 3. Double-click the IP address on the bottom. In this case, you can see Wi-Fi being selected, we need to change that in order to test the device via Ethernet. ![Port\_2.PNG](https://support.gridconnect.com/hubfs/kb-migration/gridconnect/22196056156947_22196056156947.png) Click on Tools then select Options  ![Port\_3.PNG](https://support.gridconnect.com/hubfs/kb-migration/gridconnect/22196044289043_22196044289043.png) On the options window, select Ethernet, then save changes. ![Port\_1.PNG](https://support.gridconnect.com/hubfs/kb-migration/gridconnect/22196044295315_22196044295315.png) Ethernet will be detected as an XPort Device if done correctly. If the device is still not found within DeviceInstaller, please follow the steps in [this article.](https://gridconnect.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115009606907-Cannot-find-device-in-Device-Installer-search) --- Once we are sure everything is set up we recommend checking they are properly installed by using Windows "Device Manager"  ![mceclip0.png](https://support.gridconnect.com/hubfs/kb-migration/gridconnect/8988221920787_mceclip0.png) \*Experiences may vary due to Windows installations, in some cases you may need Drivers. --- ### Tera Term or another terminal emulator Open up a Tera Term session and select the first COM port available.
